Edit the site menu

The sliding menu opens when visitors click "MENU" at the top of the page. This page explains how to add an entry to it, move it or remove it. For the settings of an entry (icon, type, highlight), see Site menu.

Add an entry

  1. Open the Menu entry in the admin.
  2. Click + Create a menu element, below the list. (For an entry next to another one, use the + button on that row instead; for a sub-menu, ↳+.)
  3. A New element row appears and its edit screen opens in a new tab.
  4. On the edit screen, enter the title as it should be displayed.
  5. Choose the Type of menu:
    • Opens page: choose the page in Link, or paste an address in Entered link for another site;
    • Opens sub-menu: the entry is the heading of a group of entries;
    • Displays content: the entry shows a text or an address in the menu.
  6. If needed, choose an icon and the Highlight or At the bottom options.
  7. Click Publish.
  8. Go back to the Menu tab: the title is already up to date in the list.

A \"draft\" entry does not appear

As long as the edit screen has not been published, the entry is not shown on the site.

Change the order of the entries

  1. In the menu list, drag and drop the rows to move them up or down.
  2. To put an entry into a sub-menu, drag it slightly to the right, below the entry that should contain it.
  3. Click Save Menu, at the bottom of the screen.

Without \"Save Menu\", the order does not change

This is the only menu action that needs this click. Creating, removing or editing an entry, on the other hand, shows straight away.

Edit an entry

Click the ✎ button on the row: the entry's edit screen opens in a new tab. Make your changes, then click Update: the site is up to date straight away.

Remove an entry

  1. Expand the row with its arrow.
  2. Click Remove, then OK in the confirmation message.

The entry disappears from the menu immediately, without saving anything. Its edit screen is moved to the bin (Trash link, below the list, to get it back). Its sub-entries, however, move up one level: they do not disappear with it.

Check the result

Open the site and click "MENU": the entry is in the right place, with the right icon. If the page still shows the old menu, reload it with Ctrl + F5 (on a Mac: Cmd + Shift + R).

If it does not work

  • The entry does not appear: it is a draft. Open its edit screen and click Publish.
  • The order has not changed: click Save Menu.
  • The message "The element could not be created." appears: reload the page and try again.
  • Clicking the entry does nothing: it has no link. Fill in Link or Entered link.
